Before “Game Art”: Proto-Artistic Authorship in Early Video Games (*)
This publication explores how early video games can be understood as sites of artistic authorship, focusing on creative agency in titles like Pac-Man, Elite, Prince of Persia, and Another World. It introduces the concept of proto-artistic authorship to show how expressive design emerges under technical constraint.
